Not one, but two members of the Wilairot family will be competing in Buriram this weekend as the eni FIM Superbike World Championship races in Thailand for the first time. For World Supersport front-runner Ratthapark Wilairot, he finally sees a long-time desire become a reality.
“I have to say ‘thank you’ to those who built the track in Buriram,” says the CORE’’ Motorsport Thailand rider of the circuit designed by Hermann Tilke. “It has always been my dream, for many years, to have a home race but not until this year has it come true and I can now race in my home country.”
Adding to the excitement only further, Ratthapark looks forward to his brother, Ratthapong, competing on the grid with A.P.Honda Racing Thailand.
“I think and hope that a lot of people will come to see me and support both me and the other Thai riders,” the elder of the Wilairots begins to sum up. “It is actually perhaps my favourite track and I have been wanting to go there as soon as possible. I want to make a dream to come by winning in my home country.”
